I kinda want do a "new" show, so I'm thinking between High Potential, Doc, Heated Rivalry or Fallout. I'd love to do The Hunting Party but sadly I cannot find a source for screencaps and I was only able to download a handful of images for the show on their official site. EDIT: I did just find Melissa Roxburgh fansite with a gallery! YAY! So probably going to go with The Hunting Party unless I go with her character for the next round of

Managed to upload all my femslash to the Sunset Archive. I don't have a lot, so it's kinda faster to upload those in comparison to my other works I still need to upload to AO3 and then SquidgeWorld. Sunset is pretty small, so there's not a lot of works already there. Kinda like for CFAA. BTW the

fandomtrees gifts were revealed - ended up getting three fics, A Shared Space by Sobriquett (Bridgerton, Kate/Anthony), Bone Deep Cold by jenab (The Flash CW, Barry/Caitlin), and Once More, With Feeling by freevistas (Sense8, Lito/Hernando/Dani) which are all VERY lovely, please read them if you like the pairings. goodbyebird which is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!

In response of three peoples' trees, I've made three MCU fics a Baby From Another Universe (Bucky/Yelena, Alexei/Melina), only one bed (for three) (Darcy/Pietro/Wanda), and girlfriend's new pet (Kate/Yelena). Plus made some icons and a book rec for others.

Speaking of Annalise/Nathan/Gabriel, I have just a week left for my prompt of "Hold Each Other by A Great Big World" for

smallfandomfest which I love the song, and someone early on had made a fanvid for the ship (very pretty, check it out!) which I love... but so far, hasn't inspired me which sucks 'cause it's like the perfect song for them. Ugh, I hate writer's block... If anyone happens to see this and can prompt with something they'd like to see for OT3 please let me know (or feel free to message me if you want to be private).

Some things that I have had stashed away for a little while:

1.

sovay very kindly sent me a copy of Exit Through the Fireplace by Kate Dunn, which was waiting for me at the new house when I got here. It is about repertory theatre with lots of accounts on every aspect from actors and others involved, including a lot of people I have watched in old telly, so I enjoyed it a lot.

But having only recently before tried to make a post explaining what I loved about Terence Rattigan's plays, including floundering about trying to say how effective his dialogue is, I was v pleased to find this quote:

John Moffatt: (On being in rep, and the difficulty of remembering the lines, doing a new play every week): "You got to know who the good writers were. With Rattigan you barely had to learn it at all, even after just blocking it you almost knew it because it is so beautifully written. The only way to reply to something that has just been said is what he's written."

2. Talking of people being kind,

swordznsorcery wrote me a lovely Sapphire & Steel story with a new Element and a stealth crossover very RTMI here, and if you also like S&S, I recommend taking a look, as it's great! <3

3. The book I was reading introduced me to the utterly untrue but very S&S like urban myth/ghost story of the Zanetti Train. Sounds like an Assignment to me, or a film I would watch, anyway. (It seems to have been taken from a Ukrainian work of fiction, most likely - certainly not one detail of it has any truth in it).

4. Making personalised bingo cards proved to be exactly in my wheelhouse right now, so I had fun with that. If anyone missed it the other day and would like one, feel free to still ask! (Here or there, whatever).

5. Random AO3 tag found while wrangling that is currently amusing me: It is literally just Twelfth Night but with Moomins.

Otherwise still slowly progressing and all that etc etc etc.

If you've read any of my

snowflake_challenge posts by now, you'll know I'm a huge Final Fantasy in particular, and a video gamer in general. Therefore, my #1 thanks has to go to

lassarina, who's been doing a weekly "What Are You Playing?" post on Wednesdays. I've been commenting (long, I can't write short about my passions) nearly weekly there for years now, and I really enjoy it. It gives me a chance to blurble happily about a topic that well, my family doesn't understand in any way but HERE IS SOMEONE WHO DOES.

seventhe have run a Final Fantasy Kiss Battle in the past (and Rina and Sev, if you're reading this and need help this year, let me know, I'd be glad to help out in any way!) and really, that was my first step into producing fanworks. Well okay, no it wasn't, my crafts were, but that feels less real and valid than writing fanfic, which is silly because I know there's people out there who really like my fandom crafts! But I think the crafts are more solitary pursuits, whereas fanfic--especially for a prompt challenge!--is more of a community thing. I'm forever grateful that they graciously allowed me to prompt one year, which led to me reading a prompt and Getting Inspired and writing a fic.

I'm grateful for everyone in the Final Fantasy Old Folks' Home. We don't get a ton of activity, but there's usually talk about fanfic writing at least a few times a week, and that alone makes me feel more connected to the fandom, even if I'm not really participating in the conversation myself.

I'm grateful for R51, who runs Caves of Narshe, a Final Fantasy fan site. I became a member there years ago and am one of the few who still posts on the forums there (remember forums?). I hang out in their Discord, too, and have helped out with the site itself. That makes me feel connected as well!

I don't know if crafts can be considered a fandom, but I'm also grateful to

badly_knitted for running

get_knitted, a community for creative types to post daily status updates. I haven't been posting there in a while because I'm currently going through a fallow period, but I still love the community and how supportive everyone is there.

I would not be me with Nerdopolis on Ravelry, so I'm grateful to blackpebble, LisaJedi and the rest of the Council of Nerds for keeping the challenge running all these years. They'd probably say, "And we can't do it without you!" because I captain a team, am Rogue Leader, and do other things for the community. It is definitely my home on Ravelry, and I love it.

I still feel mostly on the outskirts of fandom, but I've got a small circle who GETS IT, and for that, I'm really grateful.

"Slow and easy, yes, just like that. I have your head, just let your body float," Dinah said, confident and reassuring all in one.

Roy closed his eyes, his body already feeling less sore as he followed her instructions. When she'd shown up, thrown Ollie out, and told him to stay clear, Roy hadn't known what to expect. Now, living with her, Lian occupied by Oracle and Dinah's teammates, he knew he was in the best possible hands to recover.

The hot tub was set just warm enough to pull his muscles loose, salt-tanged for buoyancy, and she had him. She'd never let him fall under, while his body just floated, easing the stress of his physical therapy away. She pushed when they did it, but not so hard as to build injuries, and then… she always took care of him after.

He wasn't going to fail her, or his baby girl, by wallowing in the fear of the near-fatal shots. He would trust her, as he always had, letting her guide him. When he went back out there, he'd be as strong as he'd ever been.

It was just like when she put him back together from the drugs.

kingstoken's 2026 Book Bingo: First Person POV

The Red Chesterfield by Wayne Arthurson is a 2019 crime novella (with a touch of magical realism) about a bylaw enforcement officer, M, who finds a body while investigating an abandoned chesterfield. The incident leaves M shaken and drawn into more than one mystery as the chesterfield keeps appearing and a regular on M's route disappears. But the book is less interested in answering "whodunnit" than it is with looking at characters' decisions about getting involved in crime and drama and how priorities around family, romantic relationships, career, community, truth and justice can shift the usual narrative shape of the genre.

This is one of those books that I want to take apart with a little eyeglass screwdriver to see how it works. It's an absolute marvel of efficiency. It's only 99 pages (that exact number being by design, I suspect) with large text and several half-page chapters, but it's packed with story. It covers a lot of ground without feeling like it's moving as fast as it is. We get to know so much about who M is as a person but from a deep enough position that we skip a lot of high-level markers or exposition. This story is built on implication and inference, and the reader's principally assigned to solving the protagonist rather than the plot.

I really enjoyed this one, and I'm looking forward to checking out the author's other work.

"Probably for the best; it's damned effective. The way you pushed Grundy — whoa, hey, what is it?"

"Reminded me too much of how I don't know the limits," she admitted, having lost her playful gamine look at the reminder. "It's not like I've had the ability to truly test it all that much in a controlled environment."

"How's a flight test range sound for setting that up?" Hal challenged. "We've got plenty of junk that you can demolish, I can get that kid Kord to come monitor with his doodads and spectra-whatevers?"

She lit back up, before giving him the most suspicious look he'd seen on her yet. "Hal, are you doing this to get something, or…"

"Scout's honor — yes I was one — that I want my teammate comfortable with her power." He then laughed a little. "The dates are completely separate from that. I like to earn a lady's graces the old-fashioned way."

She smiled at him. "Well, I do like the jacket, and you are rather handsome," she teased him. "Maybe my graces, as you put it, are within reach."

Hal smiled. "We'll just see how you feel after the movie." He had the feeling this friendship was going to last, even if that's all it was.

Shelter in Danger

When Dinah Lance found herself catapulted into another dimension, it wasn't all that shocking. She's been tossed through time, sent to other worlds, and even touched alternate versions of her own world. To wake up in a world that was completely unlike her own as far as people and problems went, but still an Earth wasn't that hard to come to terms with.

No, the thing that shocked her was finding an older white-haired man with a harder sense of justice than she usually took for herself that stirred her emotions so strongly. Similarities to another man of her own world may have set the stage for growing closer, but it was Erik's ability to debate with her, to see her as a capable fighter in her own right, and his old-fashioned manners that sealed her doom.

There was just something irresistible in a man that opened doors for her but didn't think she needed to be in the kitchen for Dinah Lance.

She'd given her word that she would help defend this small island refuge. She wanted no part of his retaliatory strikes, but the people who were just trying to live their lives were under her protection. As Erik — Magneto currently — was deflecting the heavy artillery back into the attackers, Black Canary was ably working defense against the ground assault with his other combatants.

She had no idea how many amphibious vehicles she grounded permanently, how many people in deep-water gear were shoved back off the beach, but eventually Magneto gathered up all of the remaining debris from the assault and threw it out to join the artificial reef off his coastline. While he did that, she acquired one of her protein-gels, slaking a need for energy and liquid at once before seeing if she needed to help with injured.

Magneto landed beside her moments later, his hand going to the small of her back. She wasn't thinking about the likely human cost of the assault; mutants were feared and hunted here, and that force had come with the intent to kill or enslave from all she had managed to dig up.

"Your voice, my dear, is devastating. And yet you espouse more peaceful notions than I," he said with grim satisfaction over the results she'd gotten.

"I learned to modulate it over the years, so I get the effect I want," she said, shifting just slightly closer, her voice dipping into flirting tones.

"Hmm, and what effect do you wish now?" he asked, matching her tone, as that strong hand on her lower back shifted more to her hip and upper ass.

"The ability to be somewhere private and less clothed, of course," she told him.

He laughed, deep and throaty. "Oh, I like that direct approach." He guided her toward his own room, leaving the aftermath to his lieutenants. Dinah was more than happy with that choice, hoping if she distracted him long enough, he'd choose some other way than direct assault on the attacking nation.

Pretty productive day today... nothing special, but quite pleasant. The bad news is that I started my period today, but the cramps weren't particularly bad or disturbing at all, so I'm very grateful.

I woke up quite early, same as yesterday, and wrote a bunch. Yesterday I managed to write 3,500 words which is impressive. I wrote 1000 words this morning but I feel like I'm going to aim for another 1000 now just to round it out. I feel motivated because so many people seem to love the Rusame fic... I feel so flattered by the comments... (❁´◡`❁) Good grade in Hetalia here I come! I just hope the next few chapters won't be a disappointment compared to the first!

That being said, I should also work on my Femslash Exchange fic—I've already started, but I've been so hyped on the Rusame that I've been neglecting it a little. But I think I have good ideas for it, so I'm not too worried.

After lunch which was Indomie (beautiful) I went to the International Law group and studied for three hours, which is like fucking forever for a lazy student like me. Thank God I love the topic or else I would die. I'm nervous for exams but again: not too nervous.

I finished my analysis paper. I volunteered myself to write the whole body of the thing, which is truly pain by my own hand, except I don't trust my teammates to do it, y'know? It took me the whole evening, but I'm done now, and I'm handing off the responsibility of citations to them. Because I'm lazyyy.

Just took a shower and I feel good. Because I'm such a fat fucking chud it feels nice when I can actually get off my ass and work on my schoolwork. Now if only I could bring myself to do this always... well, a downside is that I've been finding absolutely no time to read any of my new books, which is shit. Anyway, I'm going to go write now. Night night!
